Combined effect of bio-oil composition and temperature on the stability of Ni spinel derived catalyst for hydrogen production by steam reforming

A challenge for scaling up hydrogen production by raw bio-oil steam reforming (SR) is the rapid catalyst deactivation that strongly sensitive to temperature and composition. This work studies combined effect of both variables on stability a Ni/Al2O3 with high Ni dispersion in internal external surfaces particles, obtained reduction NiAl2O4. The composition modified (i) removal phenolic compounds liquid–liquid extraction or (ii) use an online pre-reforming step dolomite. Then, SR tests bio-oils at 600 700 °C are carried out system two units, first one controlled deposition pyrolytic lignin (and also dolomite) second (fluidized bed reactor) volatile oxygenates. time stream evolution conversion products yields related amount, nature location coke determined several techniques.
